Oysters and stout were once considered a poor man's meal. In the past both were cheap and easily available, low-cost nutrition. Nowadays they are still fairly nutritious but not as cheap!
Some stouts are fermented with real oysters while other breweries use artificial oyster flavours. Real oysters give a beautifully smooth and creamy texture to a stout.
Our favourite oyster stout is DOUBLE SHUCK by the Scottish brewery Tempest Brewing Co.
